AI in My Design Workflow

AI in My Design Workflow

I work across brand and product, with experience spanning e-commerce, SaaS, marketing, and healthcare. I use AI to speed up research and synthesis, then move quickly into high fidelity so teams align faster and I can spend more time on craft.

DESIGN SYSTEM

Clean System. Handoff Ready.

I keep Figma files structured with intention. Each page has a single purpose cover, overview, layouts, flows, components, or documentation. I include a Look & Feel page early so visual direction is established before the system expands. I build components to be responsive, reusable, and variable-driven from day one and I've taught these principles across teams through Figma workshops on components, auto layout, and system thinking.

For layout ideation I use Claude Code, Figma Make, and Stitch to generate structural starting points quickly, then bring the strongest ideas into Figma to refine through auto layout and component logic. Pencil.dev serves as an additional reference for design system inspiration and UI kit baselines.

How I work:

  • Each file page has one function no mixed-purpose frames

  • Variables and design systems built from scratch when needed

  • Components designed for responsive reuse and clean dev handoff

  • Look & Feel page established before the system expands

  • Documentation lives inside the file alongside every component

VISUAL

High-Fidelity Instinct. AI-Accelerated.

Visual identity and iconography are where I do my most distinct work. My strength is taking rough AI-generated starting points and elevating them into polished, high-fidelity assets, clean lines, intentional composition, and a result that feels considered rather than generated.

How I work:

  • Use ChatGPT to write and refine image generation prompts, getting the prompt right up front saves significant iteration time

  • Run prompts through Midjourney and NanoBanana, comparing outputs across platforms to find the strongest direction

  • Collage and refine in Photoshop, using Generative Fill to stitch and extend areas

  • Bring final assets into Figma as reusable components instances and variants across branding, campaigns, and web

TYPOGRAPHY

Type as Identity. AI as Constraint.

Typography and logo development are areas I particularly enjoy. Selecting the right typeface is one of the more high-stakes decisions in a visual identity project, it has to feel clear, distinctive, and right for the brand. For logo exploration, AI becomes a creative constraint tool rather than a solution, helping me validate instincts and clarify what isn't working.

How I work:

  • Use ChatGPT to surface web-friendly font options quickly, prioritizing readability, performance, and implementation speed

  • Prefer practical digital-ready choices unless a project calls for a custom title treatment as artwork

  • Use ChatGPT or Gemini as a creative constraint exercise for logo direction, generating options from a defined set of rules

  • AI outputs are rarely the final answer, but they sharpen my point of view and pressure-test ideas

SPATIAL

6-Hour Builds to 20min. Thinking.

My background in experimental and industrial design means I've been building 3D models for a long time Blender, Rhino, 3ds Max, AutoCAD. Creating or modifying complex geometry historically meant hours of manual work. That calculus has changed.

How I work:

  • Use Codex to handle complex geometry manipulation mesh edits, shape adjustments, OBJ modifications

  • First processing round typically runs around 20 minutes; subsequent rounds between 16 minutes

  • Run iterations in the background while continuing other work 26 rounds on a recent project

  • Check progress in Blender between rounds, course-correcting as needed

  • Time saved goes directly back into judgment, refinement, and decision-making

FLOWS

Built for Real Implementation.

My product work has spanned marketing sites, SaaS landing pages, ad banners, emails, onboarding experiences, and healthcare user flows. Most of my work lives within existing products and design systems, though I've built systems from scratch when projects call for it.

How I work:

  • Use ChatGPT to extract themes from briefs, surface gaps, and scan competitor patterns

  • Use Claude Code for early layout exploration, structural options without pushing pixels

  • Figma for wireframing, Lovable for prototyping when stakeholders need something interactive

  • Validate against proven patterns already working in the space, then adapt to the specific brand and business goals

ENGINEERING

Designed for Handoff from the Start.

I connect with engineering one-on-one early, before design is finalized to understand the specs, states, and constraints that matter most. This shapes how I build, not just how I annotate at the end.

How I work:

  • Variables used throughout components built for implementation, not just presentation

  • Layers named cleanly, behavior documented inside the file

  • Template or layout page included so developers have real-context references

  • Ideal handoff includes annotated screens, component specs, variables, flows, and acceptance notes

  • Use Claude to refine and compress documentation copy, precise spec language reduces dev back-and-forth

PHILOSOPHY

AI generates the base. I bring the taste.

AI helps remove friction in research, documentation, and production so I can spend more time on judgment, polish, and craft. The result is faster alignment, fewer revisions, and more considered work.
